Wood platters and plates are items I turn from time-to-time when a piece of wood presents itself for such turning. I’m always on the lookout for a section of crotch wood from the fork of a tree. The grain patterns revealed in such sections of wood are often stunning.
Like bowls, wooden platters and plates date back to man’s earliest history for utilitarian purposes. But they have also been used for centuries for purely aesthetic appreciation. I leave it up to my patrons to decide as to how they prefer to use them.
